The AUREUS DN training programme provides the DCs with both high-quality academic training and substantial experience in private companies, as well as training in transferable skills.
The intersectoral and multidisciplinary training program is structured to address the Interdisciplinarity, Intersectoral and International mobility aspect of Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MCSA) and adheres to the main principles for innovative doctoral training as summarized in the Figure below.

Besides the local training, AUREUS offers extensive network-wide scientific training focused on topics aimed at educating the DCs on in-depth knowledge needed for the development of new strategies to counteract bacterial infections, as indicated below:
- Glycans as keywords in the language between microbes and hosts
- WTA: a journey from the chemical structure to biological function
- Structural glycoscience
- Antibody technology and engineering in the fight against bacterial infections
- Glycoconjugate vaccines targeting infectious agents
Additionally, the network-wide complementary skills training is tailored to improve the DCs skills in:
- Management
- Team working
- Communication and scientific presentations
- Research Ethics, Outreach to Society & Organisation
- Gender equality in research
- Entrepreneurship, IP, and business management
